IT Vortex zero-downtime cloud migration over a secure Layer 2 connection
Cloud Migration Services

Migrate Without the Re-Platforming. Weeks, Not Months.

Layer 2 VPN extends your existing network into our datacenter. Workloads migrate via vMotion or HCX with zero IP renumbering and zero application changes. Our engineers run the work end to end. You do not need a separate professional services firm.

Why IT Vortex for Migration

The Migration That Does Not Become a Project.

Most cloud migrations fail not because the technology is hard but because the project management overhead, the inter-team coordination, and the application re-architecture work get out of control. We run migrations as engineering work, not as multi-quarter consulting engagements.

Layer 2 Network Extension

Your existing IP space, VLANs, and routing extend into our datacenter. No renumbering, no DNS changes, no application reconfiguration. Workloads see the same network on both sides.

Zero-Downtime Cutover

vMotion or HCX-based live migration. Workloads move while running. The cutover window is measured in seconds per VM, not hours per application. Production stays up.

Fully Managed Service

Our engineers do the migration. Planning, execution, validation, cutover, post-migration support. You do not hire a separate professional services firm. You do not need to staff a migration team internally.

Rollback Built In

Every migration has a documented rollback procedure. If something goes wrong during cutover, workloads return to source. The decision to commit happens after joint validation, not as a leap of faith.

What's Included

The Four-Phase Migration Methodology.

Phase 1: Discovery

Automated environment scan inventories every VM, network configuration, storage allocation, and dependency. The output is a complete current-state document you can verify before any work begins.

Phase 2: Planning

Target sizing, network design, cutover sequencing, and rollback procedures. Joint review with your team. No work begins until the plan is signed off.

Phase 3: Migration

Layer 2 VPN brings your network to our datacenter. Workloads migrate via vMotion or HCX. Pre-cutover testing runs at the application level. Issues identified in test do not become issues in production.

Phase 4: Validation & Cutover

Joint application testing with your team before cutover commitment. Cutover happens during a planned window. Post-migration support covers the first 30 days with active engineering attention.

Source Platform Support

VMware vSphere (all supported versions), Nutanix, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix Hypervisor, and bare metal Windows or Linux. We have done all of them. The methodology is the same.

Target Platform Flexibility

Migrate to IT Vortex private cloud (VMware or Nutanix), hybrid cloud, or multi-cloud configurations. The migration tooling is the same regardless of where you land.

We Have Done This Hundreds of Times.

Multi-Billion Dollar Migrations Delivered

Tata Chemicals executed a flawless headquarters relocation on IT Vortex cloud hosting with zero downtime. Our methodology scales from mid-market to multinational enterprise.

Engineers Run the Work

Migrations are run by senior engineers, not project managers driving consulting firm timelines. Decisions get made in real time by the people doing the implementation.

Honest Pre-Migration Assessment

If a workload should not migrate as-is, we tell you. P2V conversions that should be re-platforming, applications with hard dependencies on legacy infrastructure, license configurations that will not transfer cleanly. Surprises happen before contract, not during cutover.

No Hidden Professional Services Hours

Migration is included in the platform engagement for typical mid-market environments. Larger enterprises with thousands of VMs have separately scoped migration projects, but the scope is transparent up front.

Who It's For

Migration Scenarios We Run Regularly.

Cloud migration is not one motion. Different starting points have different complexity profiles. Here is what we see most often and how each pattern plays out.

Data Center Exit

Customers leaving an aging colocation facility, ending a lease, or exiting an inherited acquired datacenter. The migration unlocks real estate savings and operational simplification.

  • Coordinated with lease end dates
  • Hardware decommissioning included
  • Network migration sequenced
  • No stranded infrastructure

Broadcom Escape

VMware customers facing Broadcom renewal increases who want to keep their VMware investment intact while moving to predictable IT Vortex pricing. Layer 2 VPN makes the move surgical.

  • No re-platforming required
  • Existing tooling continues to work
  • Compliance posture preserved
  • Layer 2 VPN cutover

Hyperscaler Repatriation

Workloads that should not have moved to AWS or Azure, where steady-state usage is making the bill irrational. Repatriation to private cloud cuts cost and restores predictability.

  • Network re-architecture handled
  • Application dependencies mapped
  • Cost modeling pre-migration
  • Egress optimization included

Common Questions

What People Ask Before They Sign.

What does zero-downtime cutover actually mean?
+

The application stays running during migration. vMotion or HCX moves the workload's memory state and storage to our infrastructure while it executes. Network connectivity continues through the Layer 2 VPN. End users and dependent applications do not see an outage. The cutover window itself is measured in seconds for most workloads, not hours.

How long does a typical migration take?
+

Four to eight weeks for a typical mid-market environment (25 to 200 VMs). The long pole is not the migration itself but the discovery, planning, and joint testing. Larger enterprises with thousands of VMs or complex dependencies run longer. We can scope a specific timeline once we see your environment.

Do I need to hire a separate professional services firm?
+

No. Our engineers run the migration end to end. Discovery, planning, execution, validation, cutover, and post-migration support are all included in the engagement. We have done hundreds of migrations. You do not need a partner-channel consulting firm to manage the work.

What if the migration fails or workloads do not perform as expected?
+

Every migration has a documented rollback procedure. If pre-cutover testing reveals issues, the workload returns to source while we resolve the problem. The commit-to-target decision happens after joint validation, not before. We do not commit to cutover until both teams agree the workload is ready.

Can you migrate from public cloud back to private cloud?
+

Yes. Hyperscaler repatriation is one of the most common migration patterns we run today. AWS and Azure workloads come home to private cloud via VPN extension, with application dependency mapping and cost modeling done up front. The math almost always favors repatriation for steady-state workloads.

What source platforms do you support?
+

VMware vSphere (all supported versions), Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix Hypervisor, and bare metal Windows or Linux. The migration tooling differs by source, but the methodology is the same. We have run all five source platforms to production.
